Denise Napangardi

Western Desert, NT,
Denise Napangardi is a rising artist, portraying poetic renditions of her ancestral women's stories originating from the Mt Liebig region in the Western Desert. In the artistic realm, she follows in the footsteps of her elder sister, the accomplished artist Lily Kelly Napangardi.

Her artistic creations serve as visual reflections on the intrinsic patterns found in her traditional land. A significant theme in Denise's paintings is the depiction of sacred waterholes, integral to the survival of nomadic tribes. These artworks become a contemplative exploration of the natural elements interwoven with the cultural narratives she holds dear.

Presently, Denise resides in Mt Liebig, an outstation of Papunya, alongside her husband and children. Her art not only captures the essence of her cultural heritage but also contributes to the vibrant emergence of her own artistic voice within the broader Indigenous art landscape.
