Felicity Robertson Nampitjinpa

Yuendumu,
Felicity Nampijinpa Robertson has spent the majority of her life in Yuendumu, an Aboriginal settlement nestled 290 kms northwest of Alice Springs in Australia's Northern Territory. Her educational journey began at the local school before she pursued further studies at Batchelor College in Darwin, where she earned a Diploma in teaching as an Assistant Teacher. Throughout the years, Felicity has contributed to the educational landscape at Yuendumu School intermittently.

Married with five children and several grandchildren, Felicity is deeply rooted in her familial connections and artistic heritage. As the daughter of the esteemed artist Shorty Jangala Robertson, who has been affiliated with the Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation since 1988, she carries a rich artistic legacy.

In 2007, Felicity travelled to Melbourne to showcase her father's artwork, marking her entry into the realm of artistic representation. Since 2002, she has actively participated in painting alongside the Warlukurlangu Artists, exhibiting her creations in Group Exhibitions since 2005. Notably, she contributed to the painting of the Yuendumu School Doors, a project close to her heart.

Felicity's artistic endeavours extend beyond the art centre to her home, where she finds solace in sharing her Dreaming with her grandchildren while she paints. Her creations predominantly revolve around her Ngapa Jukurrpa (Water Dreaming) and Watiyawarnu Jukurrpa (Seed Dreaming) narratives, stories deeply ingrained in her family's traditional lore, spanning back over fifty millennia. For Felicity, painting is not just a creative outlet but a means of preserving and honoring her cultural heritage: "it makes me comfortable painting all the different Ngapa and Watiyawarnu designs."
