Maureen is the daughter of the esteemed artist Lorna Ward Napanangka, a significant figure associated with Papunya Tula Artists. Her family legacy extends to her grandfather, the late Timmy Paungka Tjapangati, who was among the pioneering Pintupi individuals to settle in Papunya and played a pivotal role as a founding member of Papunya Tula Artists.

Presently, Maureen divides her time between residences in Kiwirrkura and Alice Springs, maintaining a connection to both the remote community and the urban center.
