Declan says “when it dry season that is when they do burn out …..clean the Country with burning”. Declan says “My father taught me how to carve and do the decorations with ochre. He was a famous carver and my mother is well known artist Jean Baptiste Apuatimi, (deceased). Before that I lived on Bathurst Island.” I love fishing and hunting crabs.

Declan Apuatimi is an Australian Aboriginal artist, he was born in 1979 at Wurrumiyanga – Bathurst Island. 100km north of Darwin
