Joycie Morton Petyarre’s Bush Medicine artwork reflects the cultural knowledge and Dreaming stories passed down from her grandmother, Big Betty Kemarre. Joycie learnt about hunting, bush tucker, Dreamings, bush medicine and painting through her grandmother, carrying this knowledge into her own artistic practice. The artwork celebrates the importance of bush medicine and the deep connection between Country, plants and cultural knowledge. Joycie currently lives with her family in Ampilatwatja and also spends time at Soapy Bore in Utopia and Stirling Station near Ti Tree. She continues to share the stories and knowledge passed down through her family.
