Joycie Morton Petyarre’s Bush Medicine artwork reflects knowledge and Dreaming stories passed down from her grandmother, Big Betty Kemarre. Joycie learnt about hunting, bush tucker, Dreamings, bush medicine and painting through her grandmother, carrying this knowledge into her artistic practice. The artwork celebrates the importance of bush medicine and the connection between Country, plants and cultural knowledge. Joycie lives with her family in Ampilatwatja and spends time at Soapy Bore in Utopia and Stirling Station near Ti Tree. She continues to share stories and knowledge passed down through her family.
