The sweet honey like nectar made to a sweet drink and was used medicinally for sore throats and coughs. It is an important food source for birds, possums and bees. The dried flower cones smoulder for a long time, so were used a torch and allowed Noongars to transporting fire from camp to camp. This painting reflects the orange and yellow flowers, and the distinctive serration in the leaves are highlighted in the pattern.
