Inspired by the changing colours and rhythm of wardan (ocean), this painting celebrates the beauty, history and stories held within the sea. In Noongar culture, wardan is a sacred place of healing, spiritual travel and seasonal abundance, holding deep connections to Country, culture and ancestral journeys. The setting sun carries is significant – it is believed that when a person passes away, their spirit travels westward towards the setting sun on its final journey. Kim Kiosses is a Balardong, Whadjuk and Banjima woman who creates on Wadandi Country, sharing family and cultural stories.
