Meeka & Gindis (Noongar names for Moon & Stars). This painting is about coming together to celebrate the moon & stars and our connection to them. With a rich tradition of studying & interpreting the night sky, Aboriginals are renowned as the world’s earliest astronomers. Celestial bodies holding significance as guides and as a source of cultural wisdom.

Across generations, moon phases have been instrumental in navigation, predicting tidal movement and initiating cultural ceremonies.

Kim is a Noongar Banyjima Nyryaparli woman.

She lives in Dunsborough & has been painting for
