This painting is about coming together to celebrate the moon and stars and our connection to them.

With a rich tradition of studying and interpreting the night sky, Aboriginals are renowned as the world’s earliest astronomers. Celestial bodies hold immense significance, serving as guides and sources of cultural wisdom.

Across generations, moon phases have been instrumental in navigation, predicting tidal movement and initiating cultural ceremonies.

Kim says, “While creating this painting, I reflected on times spent with family, camping on country. Hearing the chorus of nocturnal creatures, the whispering winds and a crackling campfire, looking up into the vast night sky.”
