This work is inspired by Ijiangus Country, the ancestral home of my great-great-grandmother in the Pilbara. Through vibrant colour and rich texture, this piece celebrates the beautiful, earthy red landscape and the profound history and stories it holds.

The coloured bands weave through the painting representing the Songlines and Dreaming journeys of the Nyiyaparli and Banjima People, connecting the past, present, and future.

In stark contrast to the red earth, the prominent green band signifies the Upper Fortescue Marsh. It maps a sacred point where vital river systems, winding creeks, and tributaries all meet.
