The Pathway of the Waargle – The Waargle is the Noongar dreamtime rainbow serpent, giver of life, central to Noongars beliefs and customs. It created the shape of landforms, rivers, swamps, lakes and waterways. It meandered across the land, creating curves and contours of hills and gullies. As it slithered over the land its body shaped the sand dunes, where it stopped for a rest it created bays and lakes. When visiting rivers or lakes throwing a handful of sand is to acknowledge the Waargle as a sign of respect. The Waargles resting place is at the base of Kings Park/Kaarta Geenunginyup Bo Derbal Yerrigan /Swan river. The Darling Scarp represents the Waargles body.
