In Noongar culture, the Djeran season, which occurs in April/May, is known for the annual salmon run.

Large schools of salmon migrate along the south coast, making them a prime choice for fishing and can be caught in abundance. Over many years, Noongar families have enjoyed this pastime, and feasted on their catch along the coast at Banjelungup and beyond.

Yvonne is a Minang Noongar/Ngadju artist from Yarramoup (Jerramugup) and Banjelungup (Bremer Bay) in the great southern region of WA. She currently lives in Boorloo (Perth).
