“Stormy Seas” captures the power and movement of the Southern Ocean through a Noongar lens. The swirling forms reflect the unpredictability of crashing waves and shifting tides as they move water, sand and seaweed across rocky reefs and sandy seabeds. For Noongar people of the south-west of Western Australia, the sea is a place of life, spirit and deep cultural connection. Even in its fiercest moments, it carries strength, memory and continuity. Yvonne Bell is a Minang Noongar and Ngadju artist from Yarramoup (Jerramungup) the southern region of Western Australia.
