Alice Springs and Utopia

Located at the geographic center of Australia near the southern border of the Northern Territory, Alice Springs stands as the third-largest town in the region. Referred to as Mparntwe by the Arrente people, the traditional inhabitants, it holds cultural significance in their heritage Utopia (named by German settlers in 1920) lies 270km north east of Alice Springs and includes 1800 square kms of desert country. It is home to very strong family of female painters including names such Pwerle and Petyarre.
