Bambatu Napangardi

Pintupia,
Born around 1940 in Winron, within Pintupi country beyond the Western Australian border, east of Kiwirrkura, Bambatu Napangardi experienced a childhood immersed in traditional life alongside her family. Growing up in the bush, she embraced the age-old Aboriginal way of life, engaging in hunting and sustenance from the land, a practice passed down for millennia.

Her journey took a turn when, during a visit to Balgo, she crossed paths with Dinni Campbell Tjampitjinpa, leading to their marriage in Balgo. Dinni Campbell, influenced by his older brother Anatjari Tjampitjinpa, an original artist in Papunya, gained invaluable experience in the art of painting during the 70s. Observing the elders' work, Dinni assisted Anatjari for several months, acquiring skills in color mixing, translating stories onto canvas, and contributing to the painting process
