Megan says “As a saltwater child growing up on Noongar Boodja was a blessing. We were spoilt for choice with natural activities whether that be in the bushlands close by or our beautiful coastline. Winter usually halted our plans. Having to stay indoors by the fire. The clouds and cold were pretty uninviting for a little girl, not to mention my mum’s frustration of our wet dirty clothes. I would long for the warmth of spring time. There is something inspiring and rejuvenating about Djilba. As a child and even now. I’d look up at the sky knowing spring was returning and along with it the freedom to play outside again with my siblings and cousins. ”
Megan is an emerging Nooogar artist from SouthWest WA. Her mother is Murri born in Brisbane QLD and her father is Noongar born in Wagin WA.
