For thousands of years Aboriginal people have lived on and have a cultural connection to the land. Everything in this vast landscape has meaning and purpose. This painting reflects connection to our beautiful country, and our connection to communities, family and our family history.
Kim says “Both of my grandparents were children of the stolen generations. This was when Aboriginal children were forcibly removed from their family and country and placed in institutions. The removal of children broke important cultural, spiritual and family ties and has left an intergenerational impact on us. In that act we, as a family, were denied our birthright. It has been a lifelong journey of my parents to uncover our family history. We have been fortunate to be with them and make those connections on our traditional lands.
This painting symbolizes, the connection to country, culture, people, family and history.
