Wanna is the name of a Noongar Yorga (womens) digging stick.

The Wanna is made from Wannang (WA Peppermint tree); it is carved straight stick, with flat point at one end and a rounded handle on the other end.

It is an indispensable tool for Yorgas (womens)day to day life. It is used for digging up roots and bulbs. It is also used for pounding and breaking up fibrous roots and bark for use as food or other items.

Kim is a Noongar Banyjima Nyryaparli woman. She lives in Dunsborough & has been painting for over 4 years.
