This painting was created to reflect the exquisite ancient art of weaving. Weaving is an intricate artform that was used in day-to-day life for Aboriginal people. Items such as dillybags, baskets, mats, fish traps were crafted using weaving techniques.
Plant fibres are collected, processed, dyed using native plant material and ochres. Once processed, the fibres are intricately woven into patterns and designs passed down over thousands of years.
Weaving is an artform that would bring women to together to share dreaming stories, knowledge, lore and culture.
