This artwork reflects Djeran, the Noongar season of change, as the warm days of Bunuru soften and the cool breezes begin to return. With the first signs of autumn, families journey inland, following the waterways to seasonal camps where food, fresh water and shelter can be found.

The flowing river represents the path that connects people to Country, guiding families as they move together across the landscape. The white blooms of the balga and flowering gums signal the changing season, while the rich reds, browns and earthy tones reflect the colours of Country preparing for the cooler months ahead.

The gathering places at the base of the artwork symbolise inland camps, where Elders share stories, teach culture and pass on knowledge of the land, plants and animals to the younger generations. It is a time to slow down, strengthen family bonds and honour the rhythms of Country. This artwork celebrates Djeran as a season of transition, reminding us that every journey across Noongar Country carries the wisdom of those who came before. As families gather beside the inland waterways, they renew their connection to each other, to culture and to the enduring spirit of Country.
