Fire & Wildflowers

Megan Corby

After the fire has passed across Noongar Boodja, the Country becomes quiet.

Then, beneath the warm earth, tiny seeds begin to wake. With the rain and the changing seasons, bright wildflowers rise from the ashes — red, pink, orange and purple, bringing colour back to the bush.

The flowers dance in the breeze, welcoming bees, birds and insects back to Country.

The wildflowers remind us that fire can make way for new life. From the ashes comes beauty, renewal and hope — Country beginning again.
